Visual Arts
Through Lanai's visual art instruction, children are introduced to art masters and enjoy hands-on studio art projects. They learn to recognize artistic elements, such as line, form, texture, color and value. They also become better observers, and expand their vocabulary in the artistic principles of balance, movement, pattern and proportion. After six years in our scaffolded and impressive art program, our students gain a lasting appreciation of art!
The booster group (FOLB) funds a paid art instructor Viridian Art to be the Lead in all classrooms. The art instructor communicates with the teachers and program coordinators and teachers, set-up/clean-up, and teaching the art lesson. A robust Art Docent volunteer program supports the art instructor at every grade level.
