Lanai Weekly: May 7 - 11, 2018

Principal’s Message:

Dear Parents,

Flowers, cookies, cards, fruit and hugs!  So many wonderful ways that your children showered our teachers and staff with appreciation!  It has been an incredible week and I know that everyone at Lanai felt extra special and honored.

May flowers were in full bloom at our annual Volunteer Tea on Tuesday!  Chorus sang, ladies lunched, presidents spoke, teachers popped in, and every volunteer was treated to a lovely lunch with the auditorium decorated to the nines by our students and staff!  We are so grateful for all the wonderful programs, activities, and time our families bring to Lanai.

Our third graders completed the English Language Arts section of SBAC testing this week.  They will work on the Math portion next week. Fourth graders will begin the English Language Arts next week.  Please make sure that your child comes to school well-rested and with a full tummy so that they can give their best attention to the test.

Our students were treated to a very fun Laps for Lanai kick-off event on Thursday!  Music, dance party, fitness, high-fives, character, fun! I know our students are enjoying the character traits and fitness challenges in preparation for our annual Laps for Lanai Fun Run on Tuesday, May 15. Look for more information on Parent Square.

Finally, Lanai celebrated Cinco de Mayo today with an assembly and snacks!  Special thanks to our Mexican Hat dancers from Mrs. Fulford’s class and fourth grade students, Eden and Sloane, for providing information about this holiday.  The fiesta continued at recess with DIY maracas, chips and salsa! Ole!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Lisa Elan
