Lanai Weekly: March 13 - 17, 2017

Principal’s Message

Dear Families,

“You say potatoes; I say pa-ta-toes. You say Gay-la; I say Gala.  Potatoes, pa-ta-toes, Gay-la, Gala; Let’s all have a great time! The Gala committee has been working tirelessly to make this year’s Gala completely Las Vegas worthy!   I’ve heard that some of the guests include “celebrities”, bachelorette parties, and perhaps even Elvis!  I know that the success of the Gala directly impacts all the wonderful enrichment programs, and T.A. support we have at Lanai.  Let’s all have fun and support our children’s education at Lanai!

Today your child brought home his/her second report card for this year.  Please take time to review it with your child and discuss the achievements and growth your child has made in this second marking period.  If there are areas in which your child still needs to improve, discuss this with him/her too.  Talk with your child about how we can all work together to support him/her in their growth.  Finally, your child’s teacher is an expert and can certainly help and conference with you on your child’s progress and next steps.  If you haven’t set-up a conference for next week (March 13-17) and feel you want to discuss your child’s progress, please contact his/her teacher.

Finally, I have had meetings with the staff, Safety Committee team, parents, and School Site Council regarding the safety of our school.  Through the collaboration of all our stakeholders, we will continually assess, support, and improve policies and procedures at Lanai to address our number one concern:  All children’s safety.

Enjoy your weekend and remember:  What happens in Vegas, affects our children!

Lisa Elan
