Lanai Weekly: December 19 - January 13

Principal’s Message

Dear Families,

2016 has been a great year for our students and families at Lanai and this week provided lots to celebrate—the lovely musical concert for our parents; the warm, heart-felt cards our students made to send to other children and families which decorated our auditorium; the yummy and fun parties in our classrooms; and of course the rain that sent showers of love from above.

We now have three weeks to spend time with our families and friends and make wonderful memories.  I know that your children are going to spend a lot of “fun” time doing what they enjoy with the people they love.  Also make sure that some of that time every day is spent reading books together and using math problems in real ways.  You might want to have your child make a list of the items needed for a special meal and then keeping track of how much the items cost.  Give your child a specific dollar amount and see if he/she can buy the needed foodstuffs.  You also might want to have your child keep a journal of what he/she has done each day and share it with you.  It can be written by hand or on the computer.  Whether you’re going around the world or around the corner, I wish you a wonderful holiday season and a new year filled with goodness.

Lisa Elan
