Lanai Weekly: November 14, 2016

Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

For a short week, Lanai was certainly very busy!  On Monday we had LEXIA Awards, Principal Awards, and Lunch with the Principal—It’s wonderful celebrating so many terrific accomplishments and the great citizenship of our students!  On Tuesday, Election Day, the campus ran very smoothly as a result of the planning and team efforts of our staff and volunteers.  Wednesday, we had our monthly Character Assembly on Responsibility and the students were treated to a great performance.  Thursday (in advance of Veterans’ Day), was a day to reflect and honor the dedicated men and women who have served or are currently serving in armed forces.

I also want to take a moment to let you know that as a school community, Lanai Road is an inclusive school and we value our diversity and always uphold civility to all.  We respect differing opinions and know the power that words have on our students and families.  I know that some children were very upset and scared over the outcome of the election.  There were classroom discussions and our students had the opportunity to express their feelings.  We also assured them that they are always safe at school and that our country is made up of a government that provides checks and balances to insure that all ideas and beliefs are valued and considered.
