A Lanai “Paws” for Thanks… …to Lanai mom, Anna Babayants, who works at Staples, and has been kind enough to arrange a special discount to help us meet our paper and supply needs. Thank you to Staples and Ms. Babayants for being a part of what makes our Lanai community thrive.

Smarter Balanced Testing – starts this week Smarter Balanced Testing continues through May 23. This week: Rooms 20 & 12 test on Tuesday.
Rooms 20 & 13 test on Wednesday. Rooms 12 & 21 test on Thursday. Rooms 13 & 20 test on Friday.

FREE Parent Workshop: “Stranger Safety for Kids” -– Weds., April 23 @8:30am Learn how to talk to children about the dangers of abductions without scaring them. Help your child identify a stranger, understand and listen to their intuition and know their family contact info. Please RSVP or contact with any questions. Thank you!

Laps 4 Lanai – Pledge Drive is on! Extended to April 25 The Laps 4 Lanai fundraiser helps promote health and teamwork for the entire student body. On the days of the event (May 22nd & 23rd), students will run laps on the upper yard. Each grade runs only one day. It is a special day with music, incentives and good healthy fun! Students receive incentives both for completing their laps and for fundraising. Please see details online.

Lanai 2014 Yearbook: • On Sale Now: Order by May 1st for the discounted price! • Attention, 5th Grade Families: Baby Pictures & Dedications now being accepted for the 2014 Yearbook. Please submit photos by April 28th. Details online.

Recycled Art Contest – Art Drop Off: 4/24 by 8:15a.m. -- Museum Open, 4/25, 8:00a.m.-3:30p.m. All students are invited to enter Lanai’s Recycled Art Contest and have their art displayed in Lanai’s Earth Day Museum. Students will have the opportunity to tour the Museum Friday 4/25 and vote for their favorite art. Parents are welcome! Please see online “News” for details and submission form!

e-Waste Recycling Fundraiser – drop off April 21-25 Don’t throw it away, throw it our way! We raise money for Lanai by recycling your unwanted household goods and electronics. More info in online “News.” Questions? Please email Anita at

Spirit Day – Friday, April 25th – “Dress as your Favorite Career” On April 25, Student Council encourages all students to “Dress as the career you want to be when you grow up.”

Movie Night – May 3rd Lanai’s PTA and Camp Keystone invite you to join us for Dinner & Movie under the stars on Lanai's Blacktop Sat May 3rd 6:30-9. Food sold 6:30, movie starts 7:15. Bring your kids, blankets, chairs & get comfy! Kids... submit your vote this week for either Nut Job or Frozen to be shown. Sponsored by PTA Community Events

Team Lanai Cares (TLC) – April Donations TLC is collecting items in the large brown bins in front of the school to donate to people on Skid Row. Each grade has adopted a bin and is pushing to see how many times they can get filled up by the end of April. Clean out your clutter and help TLC help others! (See flyer in online BPN.)

Spirit Wear – “Gently Used” Sale – coming soon Start collecting the spirit wear that your child has outgrown. We will be having a gently used spirit wear sale in May. A box will be in front of the school the week of April 21 for you to deposit your items.
