It was so seeing you at our Back to School Nights. The evening provided an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, learn the classroom rules and expectations, discuss the homework policy, and discover some of the terrific learning in which your child will participate! Please know that the evening was brief, but if you have more questions, please contact your child’s teacher.
There are so many opportunities for parents to participate in their child(ren)’s education. In addition to volunteering in classrooms, PE, events, FOLB and PTA committees, we have two leadership committees at Lanai that target student learning and achievement. The first one is our School Site Council (SSC) and that committee is a governing body that reviews safety, school budget, and student achievement. The second committee is our English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) and that committee monitors our programs and support for our English Language Learners. Both are important and we welcome participation from all our families. Please come on Thursday, Sept. 6th at 8:30 a.m. for our ELAC elections and on Friday, Sept. 7th at 1:30 p.m. for our SSC elections.
Also, as a friendly reminder, please be considerate of our neighbors during drop-off and pick-up. Remember not to block driveways, interfere with trash cans and park in unauthorized places. Following all traffic and safety rules makes Lanai and our community safer.
I’m certain you and your family enjoy the four-day weekend. On Friday we celebrate Admissions Day—the day California was accepted into the union in 1850 as the 31st state. On Monday we celebrate Labor Day—honoring our workers for their contributions to our society.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
