What do you get when you combine our buddies and Earth Day? How about a trip to the Lanai Earth Day museum with our buddies? This morning buddies from Ms. Verdin and Mrs. Besser’s classes came and visited the museum together! They looked at the recycled art and voted on their favorite pieces. I must say, the ideas were incredible! There were games, mazes, robots, homes for unicorns, Eiffel Towers, and even a life-sized person! Congratulations to all the participants—I know MOCA will be calling soon!
What is better than lunchtime at school? How about lunch, playtime and a treat with your buddy? That’s what our students did today during lunch time. Buddy Lunches are the best! If you’ve been up on our playground this week you may have noticed that Lanai has been invaded by large, chalk-drawn, deconstructed numbers! Apparently, our students have expanded their math learning to outside the classroom and have left traces of deconstructed numbers! Watch out—next week there may be decimals!
Kudos to our Destination Imagination teams who went to State last week! Our 5th grade DIY’s took first place and are going to Tennessee in May! We are so proud of all our teams who put forth so much time and effort and learned so much!
Finally, as you probably know, our Chorus rocks! On Thursday night they performed at the Taft Explo and did an amazing job! They, and many of our other Lanai students, visited booths at the Explo. Students raced boats, shot off rockets, attended performances, saw a fashion design studio, participated in a video commercial, made slime, and much more! There were over 1900 attendees and Lanai showed a great presence! Well done!
