What’s cooking this week at Lanai? Compassion, cuisine, conservation and kudos! Our student council kicked-off this week’s assembly by announcing a coin and dollar drive to support people in need as a result of the devastating Hurricane Harvey. The drive continues through next week. Cuisine, better known as yummy pizza and pasta, was a super fun at CPK on Thursday night. It was great seeing so many Lanai families! On a conservation note, Lanai is forward thinking and seriously concerned about reducing our carbon footprint. To that end, beginning in October, our weekly letter will not be printed and sent home. You will receive it electronically, as you always do, through Parent Square. Should you need a paper copy, you can print it at home or there will be some available in the office.
Finally, a huge kudos to all the families who have shown their Lanai LoVE! Lanai families can do anything!

LAUSD and the DACA Program - LAUSD would like to reaffirm the District’s commitment to provide a safe and welcoming learning environment for every student, in light of the federal government’s announcement to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. While this program primarily impacts young adults ages 18 - 25, we understand the uncertainty and anxiety that many families, students, and educators may feel. It remains District policy not to inquire about a student’s or family member’s immigration status for enrollment or educational purposes, and we do not release student records without parental consent or a judicial warrant. We will continue to create safe spaces where students can flourish and engage in conversations about these critical issues. Please see Parent Square for the link to the official LAUSD Policy letter.
