Lanai Weekly: October 2 - 6, 2017

Principal's Message:

Wow!  What a week!  What excitement!  Portola Middle School…Parent Workshops...Pedestrian Safety…Assemblymember…School Board Member… …Coffee with the Principal!  So many terrific informational events at Lanai!  On Tuesday night, Principal Jennifer Yoo came to Lanai and shared the variety of wonderful programs and opportunities Portola Middle School offers.  A special treat was hearing about the Portola experience from Lanai alums!  On Wednesday, our Parent Center invited Katherine Saltzberg who spoke about “Homework Struggles.”  It was insightful and helpful in aiding parents with ways of dealing with homework issues!  On Thursday morning, Lanai hosted Assemblymember Matt Dababneh, School Board Member Nick Melvoin, our Director Dr. Stephanie McClay, CHP, the press, and all our families as we participated in Pedestrian Safety!  Additionally, parents chatted with Mr.  Dababneh and Nick Melvoin as they spoke in the auditorium. Many issues were covered, and of course, the traffic along our corridor was highlighted with suggestions as to contacting other officials for support.    Thank you to all our staff and volunteers who worked so hard to help this event run smoothly, and also parents who stayed for the “chat” with Mr.  Dababneh.   It surely shows that Lanai families are action-oriented.  I believe that positive change will happen!    And finally, Friday, Coffee with the Principal… a nice way to discuss the latest at Lanai:  past, present, and future…

Happy weekend!
