Principal’s Message

Dear Families,

This week it was raining, it was pouring, but there was no snoring as 572 pairs of happy, little feet came pitter-pattering (or swish-swashing) back to Lanai!  But by 8:30 a.m. on Monday it was full speed ahead, and onto learning as your children slipped right back into the school-learning mode!   As I walked through the classrooms I learned a mnemonic to remember the placement of numbers when writing a division problem, such as 24/3=8, into a “long division” type problem.  “The dividend goes at the end; the divisor knocks on the door;  while the quotient is the queen and she sits on top!

Remember that on Monday we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. and his message of civil rights and nonviolent activism for all people.  His famous speech, “…I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character…” still resonates today and is a belief that we all uphold.   I hope you take time to talk to your children about things we can do so that all people have the opportunity to achieve their dreams.

Finally, we are having some issues with parents parking and dropping off their children on the corner and in areas not marked for parking or drop-off.  That creates tremendous traffic for everyone one else and a potentially puts others at risk.  Please, follow all traffic rules, the directions of our car valets, and our crossing guard.

Wishing you a wonderful three-day weekend.

Fondly,

Lisa Elan

2017 Cubs Choir and Super Spectacular Show Choir Meet and Greets Announced! Wednesday 1/18 and Monday 1/23 immediately after school in the auditorium! If you are in Kindergarten or 1st grade and you LOVE TO SING, the Lanai Cubs Choir is for you!  Mr. Haller is meeting with NEW singers to the choir program - ("old" Cub singers are already in!) No need to sign up for an appointment -- just SHOW UP on either day between 2:40p and 3:30p and say "Hello!"

Cubs rehearse on Mondays in the auditorium from 2:45p to 3:30p beginning January 30th!

The NEW Lanai Road Super Spectacular Show Choir combines the singing and dance moves that the kids have been begging for! Yes, Mr. Haller knuckled under the pressure of 2nd through 5th graders wanting to incorporate more movement into the already cool songs they've been doing - so he combined Simba and Aslan, changed the rehearsal days to Mondays from 3:35p to 4:20p, hired a choreographer and is now producing rocking audio tracks that kids can play and practice at home.

Meet and greets for NEW 2nd through 5th grade singers are also on Wednesday 1/18 and Monday 1/23 in the auditorium. Simba and Aslan members from Fall 2016 are automatically accepted into the Show Choir.

New singers grades 2 thru 5 are encouraged to come say hello to Mr. H. Webpage with registration info will be live shortly. Questions/Comments can always be sent to billhaller1@gmail.com
