It was wonderful to see so many parents at the volunteer sign-up meeting. Thank you for giving so freely of your time and talents to the children of Lanai. Please plan on attending our Back to School nights this week. This is a parent only event and limited parking will be available on the upper playground so please arrive early.
We welcome our new Principal, Mrs. Lisa Elan, to Lanai on Monday, August 29! We will have this entire week together to transition the change of leadership for Lanai. She brings great instructional knowledge and leadership to our school.
It has been an honor to serve as the principal of Lanai Road. Thank you for your partnering with me to support Lanai and give our students a first class education. The past three years have been the most rewarding of my career as Lanai is the best school I have had the privilege to work at. I will miss our students, staff, parents and the school community as the people that walk through these halls make Lanai a special place. From my heart, I will always cherish my time here and take away fond memories. Once a lion, always a lion!

KINDER PICNIC POSTPONED - Due to logistical concerns, the new family/kinder picnic has been postponed to a later date. It will be rescheduled soon and information will be sent through parent square and this newsletter.

CPK RESTAURANT NIGHT IS COMING! - Thursday, September 8th! All day fundraising. Principal Elan, Coach PJ and teachers will be at CPK Encino from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. CPK donates 20% back to Lanai. Dine in or take out - we hope you'll join us!

VOLUNTEERING AT LANAI - Parent Volunteers are a vital part of our school's success and it is easy to obtain a volunteer badge. All volunteers must fill out a School Volunteer Application and submit a negative TB test result form from their doctor or a clinic with the application. Applications are available in the Parent Center (Room 3) and also in the front office. TB tests are good for 4 years. Please turn in your completed application and TB test result form to Lisa Reeve, Parent Center Director, in the Parent Center or front office. Your application will then be processed and you will be notified by email when your volunteer badge is ready for pick up. Then, simply stop by the Parent Center and pick up you volunteer badge at your convenience. Please wear your badge each time you are volunteering on the Lanai campus and remember to sign in and out in the front office. You do not need to get a new badge every year, only if you lose your badge or your TB test has expired. If you have any questions, please email Lisa Reeve at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks!
AFTER SCHOOL THEATER AUDITIONS ARE COMING UP! Auditions for the fall musical directed by Mr. Jay will be held on Tuesday, August 30 from 2:00 to 3:30 in the Dakarman girls auditorium. Everyone must pick up an audition/information application prior to auditions. They are available in the office or directly from Mr. Jay. This is for grades 3-5 only, but if a 2nd grader is interested please contact Mr. Jay directly for a separate evaluation at email@example.com
DO YOU STILL HAVE LAST YEARS BACKPACKS AND LUNCH BOXES...DONATE THEM! There will be a donation box outside of the school office to collect gently used school bags and lunch boxes. All donations will be used for a future Team Lanai Cares community project this coming school year.
SEEDS AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT CLASSES - Enrollment is now exclusively online! See the Lanai website for all the information on great after school classes. Classes begin September 12th.
ORCHESTRA ANNOUNCEMENT - Lanai Road Orchestra has been temporarily discontinued for the 2016-2017 school year.
REFLECTIONS ART - If your child participated in the reflections art contest last school year and you want to pick up their art, it will be in the Parent Center, Room 3, for 1 more week. Then it will be recycled. (It will be on top of the grey file cabinet) Thanks!
LOOKING FOR LIBRARY BOOKS! Did you find any library books over summer break? Please return any library books that didn't make it back last year (or in previous years!) so that you can avoid fees and your child can start checking out new books! If you have any questions about outstanding books, please see Ms. Parvin in the library. Thanks!
