Lanai Weekly: February 29, 2016

Principal’s Message:

Dear Parents,

Everyone is invited to attend the inaugural Northwest Festival held at Reseda High School, Saturday March 5th from 9:00 to 3:00.  Lanai’s very own after school Chorus will perform on the Main Stage at 9:45 a.m.  Come cheer on your Lanai Lions!

On another note, it’s come to our attention that a non-profit organization will be requesting student information through the California Department of Education. Please see below for information from LAUSD and the links for opting out of sharing your student's information.

PARENTS OF LOS ANGELES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT STUDENTS:

In April 2012, the Morgan Hill Concerned Parents Association and the Concerned Parent Association (Plaintiffs) filed a lawsuit against the California Department of Education (CDE).  The Los Angeles Unified School District is not a party to this litigation.  However, the Plaintiffs are subpoenaing student data from the CDE's student database.  While none of the personally identified information (PII) will be publicly shared, it will be used in aggregate form to build the case.  If you do not wish your student’s data to be shared, you may submit an opt-out letter to the court.

Please find below the legal ruling and the opt-out form.  Again, please note that the opt-out form MUST BE MAILED DIRECTLY TO THE COURT. The deadline is April 1, 2016.
