Lanai Weekly: October 10, 2016

Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

Wow!  This has been a very busy week at Lanai!  I visited several classrooms and saw wonderful math activities going on!  In 3rd grade, children were explaining that multiplication is really a form of repeated addition and then groups of children got in lines to physically show 4 groups of 3 before going out to recess!  I saw first graders leaping, skipping, jumping, and hopping while being aware of their special “bubble-space” as they danced to great music.  Also, all our students were treated to a truly fine performance on the Character Trait—Respect, written and performed by our talented parents!

On Tuesday we had an amazing turnout for both the morning and evening parent workshops on “Choosing the Right Middle School” provided by Robbie Solomon.  New week and the following week she’ll continue the series with “All About LAUSD Magnets”.

Things are also getting “Spooky” at Lanai—there seems to be a lot of parent ghosts floating around Lanai and getting it ready for our big event—Spooktacular!

Finally, congratulations to our students who earned a Principal Award and also my lunch buddies!

Enjoy your weekend,

Lisa Elan
