Lanai Weekly: October 17, 2016

Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

Fall is definitely in the air—it’s crisper in the morning and afternoon; time for sweaters and sweatshirts!  Ghosts and goblins are busy scampering around our campus in preparation for Sunday’s Spooktacular!  I know it’s going to be a great event!

This week I have been visiting fourth grade and saw some wonderful activities going on.  In Science, the fourth graders were learning about the Grand Canyon and how erosion occurs in cooperative groups using sand bins and water.  The art docent program was busy teaching students about Diego Rivera and the students were recreating his famous 1942 piece, Vendedora de Flores --you’ll find some of them in our main office. Many fourth grade students are reading the book, Esperanza Rising which deals with civil and labor rights.  Finally, in Social Studies students were making relief maps of California as they learn all about our great state.

Hoping to see you at Spooktacular!

Lisa Elan
