Lanai Weekly: August 31, 2015

Principal’s Message:

Dear Parents,

Please join the Lanai staff for our 2015 Back-to-School Night on Tuesday, September 1 (TK-2), and Wednesday, September 2 (3-5), from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  The goal of Back-to-School Night is to connect students’ families with their new classrooms and teachers.  These elementary years are some of the most crucial to your child’s success and we hope you will jump in as partners.  Your involvement, no matter how big or small, really makes a difference.  Looking forward to seeing you at Back-to-School Night!

As a reminder school will be closed on Friday, September 4, and Monday, September 7.  We are off and running on the school year!

Sincerely,

Mr. Hansen

Please join us for the Parents only Back to School Night.  This is the ideal time to meet your children’s teachers and class representatives.  Spirit wear will be on sale throughout the evening.  Don’t forget to bring your checkbooks for the classroom fund collection and FOLB will have tables set up for LoVE donations.

Chorus Evaluations -  8/31 is 1st grade evaluation, 9/2 is 2-5 grade evaluation. Please register online at lanairoad.net/vocal.

Volunteering at Lanai - Thank you to everyone who attended the Team Lanai Meeting and volunteer sign ups last week.  If you missed the meeting, you can still volunteer!  All volunteers must fill out a School Volunteer Application and submit a negative TB test result form from their doctor or a clinic with the application.  Applications are available in the Parent Center (Room 3) and also in the front office.  TB tests are good for 4 years.  Please turn in your completed application and TB test result form to Lisa Reeve, Parent Center Director in the Parent Center or front office.  Your application will then be processed and you will be notified by email when your volunteer badge is ready for pick up.  Then, simply stop by the Parent Center and pick up you volunteer badge at your convenience.  Please wear your badge each time you are volunteering on the Lanai campus and remember to sign in and out in the front office.  You do not need to get a new badge every year, only if you lose your badge or your TB test has expired.  If you have any questions, please email Lisa Reeve at lisa.reeve@lanairoad.net.  Thanks!

Looking for fun and interesting after school care?  YES Youth Enrichment Services Fall lineup will begin Tuesday September 8th.  They provide daily activities in art, computers, science, sports and fitness as well as homework assistance and playground fun. Check out the Lanai Road website, www.lanairoad.net for enrichment class schedule and enrollment forms. Last day to sign up is Friday September 4th.

Book Club Orientation is on Thursday, September 3 at 8:30 AM in front of the Library.  Anyone interested in being a Book Club Leader or in learning more about Book Club is welcome.  For more information about Book Club, please email kimgohata@me.com.

During school hours, students will participate in orchestra assembly – two new teachers will explain the program to students and introduce them to various string and wind instruments.  Enrollment forms will be sent home in your child’s backpack, and are also available on the Lanai  website, and in the front office.  Submit forms and fees in the orchestra mail box, in the front office. We have two new teachers conducting small group lessons after school on Tuesdays offered at an affordable price.  Lessons begin quickly so sign up now!
