Lanai Weekly: Mar 9, 2015

Principal’s Message:

Spring testing is here!  Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will test over the next nine weeks.  Beginning next week, students in 3rd grade will be taking the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) formerly known as the California Standards Test (CST).  Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will be tested in English Language Arts and Math.  Students will take the Computer Adaptive Test and Performance Task for both areas.  In addition, 5th grade students will take the California Standards Test for Science.  While results will not be counted for API purposes we want our students to do well.  It is important that students be in school and on time during testing days.  In addition, here are some specific things you can do to help your child perform well on the tests:

·         Be sure your child gets plenty of rest the night before each test date.

·         Be sure your child eats breakfast each morning before the test.

·         Do not schedule any doctor or dental appointments for the morning hours.

·         Keep a regular schedule so that your child is not rushed in the morning.

The calmer your child is when he/she comes to school, the better he/she will perform on the test.

Testing dates are listed below:

Grade 3: March 9, 11, 12, 16, 18

Grade 4: March 23, 25 and  April 13, 16

Grade 5: April 27, 29, 30, and May 1

Thank you for your continued support.

Mr. Hansen
