Lanai Weekly: November 16, 2015

Principal’s Message:

Dear Parents,

Last week I attended a parent meeting held at Kennedy High School on Monday evening about the 2016-2019 Instructional Calendar Planning Process.  The purpose of the meeting was to share with parents the planning process for adopting the instructional calendars for the next three years and the upcoming stakeholder survey.  There are five calendar scenarios that have different starting and ending dates.  The start dates range from early August to after Labor Day and the end dates range from June 5 to June 29.  In addition, the winter breaks vary between 2 weeks, 3 weeks and 7 weeks.  LAUSD is conducting a survey for both parents and school based employees.

Please visit achieve.lausd.net/schoolcalendars for more information and to see the five calendar scenarios.

Large Scale Stakeholder Survey for Parents/Guardians:  Parents will receive a Blackboard Connect message asking their preferred survey method on November 16 and 17.  Parents must select an option for the survey (phone or online).  Parents have the following options on completing the survey:

  • Complete a Blackboard Connect phone survey

  • Fill out an online survey

  • Not interested in completing the survey

Phone Survey for Parents on November 18, 19, and December 1

  • Phone survey calls will be made only to families on November 18, 19, and December 1 who selected this option.  Once a parent completes the survey, the phone number will be removed from subsequent survey calls.

Online Survey for Parents from November 18 through December 6

  • Parents may complete the online survey from November 18 through December 6 only.

Thank you for your input and for completing the parent survey.

Sincerely,

Mr. Hansen
