Lanai Events

 

Smarter Balanced Testing window extended. Testing starts the week of April 21 and continues through May 16 Not every class wil be tested every day.

Laps 4 Lanai – Pledge Drive is on! Extended to April 25 The Laps 4 Lanai fundraiser helps promote health and teamwork for the entire student body. On the days of the event (May 22nd & 23rd), students will run laps on the upper yard. Each grade runs only one day. It is a special day with music, incentives and good healthy fun! Students receive incentives both for completing their laps and for fundraising. Please see details online.

Calendar Correction: No Salad Bar this week - Salad Bar will resume after Spring Break.

Wednesday, April 9 - Character Day – wear RED for CARING – Lanai’s lively Character Counts program continues April 9 with “Caring.” Everyone is encouraged to wear RED.

Wednesday April 9 -Team Lanai Meeting – special time – 1:15pm Show you “Care” for Lanai & join us at our next Team Lanai meeting! We’ll meet at 1:15pm in the Parent Center.

Thursday, April 10 - Children’s Day - Multicultural Event Planning @ 8:30am in the Parent Center, room 3 Lanai will join many Asian cultures in celebrating Children’s Day on May 5. Be part of the planning committee for this fun, all school event! Can’t make the meeting but still want to help? Please contact Eve Hill at eve.hill@lausd.net

Team Lanai Cares (TLC) – April Donations TLC is collecting items in the large brown bins in front of the school to donate to people on Skid Row. Each grade has adopted a bin and is pushing to see how many times they can get filled up by the end of April. Clean out your clutter and help TLC help others! (See flyer in online BPN.)

Spring Break: April 14-18th S.E.E.D.S will offer child care & Y.E.S. Enrichment will offer Adventure Camp with Coach P.J.! Please see online “News” for details & enrollment form.

Recycled Art Contest – Art Drop Off: 4/24 by 8:15a.m. -- Museum Open, 4/25, 8:00a.m.-3:30p.m. All students are invited to enter Lanai’s Recycled Art Contest and have their art displayed in Lanai’s Earth Day Museum. Students will have the opportunity to tour the Museum Friday 4/25 and vote for their favorite art. Parents are welcome! Please see online “News” for details and submission form!

e-Waste Recycling Fundraiser – drop off April 21-25 Don’t throw it away, throw it our way! We raise money for Lanai by recycling your unwanted household goods and electronics. More info in online “News.” Questions? Please email Anita at dimpleduz@aol.com.

Parent Workshop – Find the Children presents: “Stranger Safety for Kids” – Weds., April 23 @8:30am At this workshop: Learn how to talk to children about the dangers of abductions without scaring them. Help your child identify a stranger, how to understand and listen to their intuition, and knowing their family contact info. Also included for parents of older children will be issues involving online predators and internet privacy. Please RSVP or contact eve.hill@lausd.net with any questions. Thank you!

Spirit Wear – “Gently Used” Sale – coming soon Start collecting the spirit wear that your child has outgrown. We will be having a gently used spirit wear sale in May. A box will be in front of the school the week of April 21 for you to deposit your items.
