Congratulations to Abby Reifman, who was selected by her peers as this year’s Teacher of the Year. She will attend a dinner hosted by the Encino Chamber of Commerce in March and receive her award.

Science Explosion Thanks

A high-flying THANK YOU to Bree, Elham and the science committee for presenting a soaring science day last week. Parent volunteers piloted the event dressed as flight attendants, and students learned & applied the basic principles of aviation while constructing paper airplanes. Students were even treated to a special helicopter fly-over.

Safe Moves Assemblies Tue Jan 28

On Tuesday, January 28th, the Safe Moves Traffic & Safety program will be conducting assemblies for Lanai students. City Councilman Paul Koretz will be in attendance at our first assembly.

Game Day with Grandparents Tue Jan 28 1:40-3:40

After school on Tuesday, January 28th, PTA presents Game Day with Grandparents! Students: please invite your Grandparents & Families to Lanai for this fun event. You can even bring your favorite game or play the many we have available. Hope to see you at the lunch tables January 28th for Game Day with Grandparents, 1:40 – 3:40pm.

Recycle the Vote

Please send your empty plastic bottles and aluminum cans into school all week for “Recycle the Vote.” Students will use their recyclables to vote for their favorite 80’s musical artist in bins located inside the school entrance. Thanks, and remember to bring in your recyclables this week. No glass, please.

Spirit Day

Our next spirit day will be 80’s Day on Friday, January 31st. Student Council invites all students to dress 80’s Style. Dust off your shoulder pads and fanny packs -- it’s going to be like, totally rad!

Salad Bar Now Twice a Week!

Salad bar will now be available twice a week! Students will be able to choose from an array of fresh fruits and vegetables on Mondays and Wednesdays, in addition to hot lunch. Volunteers are needed for Mondays, lunch is provided. Please contact Lauren Latham at laurenlollie1@gmail.com and join us at salad bar!

Team Lanai Cares Stuffed Toy Drive Feb 3-14

Start looking in your closets for those stuffed animals you never play with! Lanai's 4th Annual Stuffed Animal drive is February 3 to 14th and we need your new or "like-new" stuffed toys! Donations will be given to LA Family Housing just in time for Valentine's Day! We make a difference – check out our Toy Drive Thank You letter online!
